Grandmother.
Note:
Donald Grant of Inverlochie is acknowledged as the father of Beatrix Grant. While there is currently no paper trail proving Donald Grant of Inverlochie is also the father of John Grant in Inverlochie and that John is the brother of Beatrix Grant, Aeneas Cameron’s
documented relationship to John’s son, Wm. Grant of Trois-Rivieres, provides circumstantial evidence this is likely so. This information is from the works of Elaine Allan Mitchell and W.C. Wallace.
John Grant, son of Beatrix Grant, served as Chief Justice of Jamaica from 1783 - 1790.
There were no children from his marriage to Margaret McLeod.

* Notes:
Charles Grant was a cousin of brothers Robert Grant and Cuthbert Grant Sr. Brothers Robert Grant and Cuthbert
Grant were cousins of Peter, John and Barbara Stuart, and uncles of Donald A. Stuart, Lord Strathcona.
A long standing question has been whether or not ‘our’ Grants were related to the family of Cuthbert Grant. In
Johnny Grant’s memoir, published under the title, A Son Of The Fur Trade, (see ) it is clear Johnny believed he
was related to both the Cuthbert Grants and to Lord Strathcona, Donald A. Smith.
DNA has determined there is about a 5% chance in the last 400 to 500 years of a blood connection between the
families of John Grant of Inverlochie (Johnny Grant’s family) and the Cuthbert Grants.

On April 16, 1894, Cecile married Moise Cherette at St. Joseph, North Dakota.
In 1907, Cecile and sons, Michel John and Peter Alexander went from North
Dakota to spalding, Saskatchewan, with Michel Dumas' sister, Mary Dumas Coutu.
It is believed neither of Cecile's sons married or had children. Cecile's
daughter did not go to Saskatchewan with the rest of the family; it's unknown
what became of her.
The following is all I know about the Dumas/Coutu family:
Mary Dumas Coutu > Hermidos Coutu > Ernest Coutu & Anne > Lyle Coutu

Note: Marie Anne & Alexandre probably were not twins. Given the contradictions surrounding Marie Anne's vital statistics, particularly those
of her death, her date of birth ranged from 1801 through 1803. Records pertaining to her siblings also contain contradictions, so, their details
displayed in this chart are open to speculation.

Note: So far, this connection is unproven.
As this is the only information available, it is difficult to know the degree of accuracy in the references to "A Richard Grant descendant" and "a Chastelaine Descendant." For the times, places and families I have been researching, the name Richard is very uncommon. In fact, the only Richards found were Richard, son of William Grant of Trois-Rivieres, and Richard, son of Ann Grant (possibly half brother of Wm. Grant of Trois Rivieres) and Samuel Gerrard. These two Richards may have been cousins; both likely named after Richard Dobie. (See Grant-Dobie Chart and Biographies.
The references themselves imply a connection. Richard, son of William Grant of Trois-Rivieres was also the son of Marguerite Laframboise, whose mother was a Chastelaine. This Richard, then, was both a Grant and a Chastelaine descendant.
In the late 1860s, Johnny Grant, (son of Richard, gr-son of Wm. Grant) travelled from Montana to the Red River area, looking for a suitable place to transplant his family and ranch. For his return trip to Montana, he hired Metis men of Scottish and French origin. One of these men was named Descoteau[x] aka Shoshigh. In spite of Descoteau's incompetence, and behaviour which made him a health and safety issue, he was hired and retained throughout the trip as the guide and paid five dollars more per month than the other men. (See: A Son Of The Fur Trade, The Memoirs of Johnny Grant)
During the period Johnny Grant was at Red River, there were Chastelaine and Descoteaux families settled there. The Marie Grant in the above chart was born the year Johnny Grant and his family established themselves at the Red River Settlement, so, obviously, her husband, Pierre Descoteau, was not Johnny Grant's guide. Given the many cross ties between Metis families in general and in particular those of the Red River Settlement, there is a very good possability that Johnny's guide was related to him in some manner.
